When should I book my cake?
To avoid disappointment, we suggest providing 6-12 weeks notice for wedding cakes and 3-6 weeks for corporate, birthday and other occasion cakes. During off-peak season (May – August) 2-3 weeks is adequate notice, and in exceptional cases, cakes may be turned around within the week.
How do I order a cake?
To start the order process, please send an email to aida@aidassweettreat.com containing all the following information:
- the date of your event
- the occasion/nature of your event (wedding, birthday, christening, etc)
- the event location, delivery address, and delivery time
- how many people you will need to serve
- your daytime phone number
- your email address
- an idea of what kind of cake design you are looking for
- your budget
How do you design our custom cakes?
Important things to consider when designing a custom cake include the individual, their personal traits and hobbies, occasion theme, venue and time of year. It can also be useful to bring references such as photographs or invitations along to your consultation.
How do you design our custom wedding cake?
Because our wedding cakes are designed specifically for you, to reflect the style and theme of your wedding, it is important to have decided on the theme/ ambience and location of your wedding before arranging a consultation. Sometimes your ‘dream cake’ can be completely unsuited to the style, size or lighting of your particular venue. Style elements to consider before your appointment include cake shape (round or square), number of tiers, colour, pattern and/or flowers. If taking design inspiration from your dress, invitation, flower, fabric etc, remember to provide a reference at the time of your consultation.
How much will I pay for a corporate cake?
Because our cakes are completely custom made, and priced individually by the complexity of their design and size, we do not have a standard price list. You can get an idea of our pricing by looking through our style and price guide. However if you have a budget we will always try to make suggestions that will fit within your budget.
What is you payment policy?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your order; the remainder is due at least two weeks prior to your event. Your order is not confirmed until we have received your signed contract and 50% non- refundable deposit. Payment can be made by direct deposit, cash, cheque or credit card (Visa or Mastercard). Cake orders placed with less than two weeks’ notice require payment in full at the time of ordering. Deposits are non-refundable. Event dates are held for you through the date of your appointment or quote, and five (5) business days afterwards. If we do not receive a signed contract and 50% deposit within five (5) business days of your appointment or quote, your date may become unavailable. Design/Tasting appointments are held for wedding cake orders only. If you feel that you require an appointment for a birthday cake please send us an email.
What factors will influence the cost of my cake?
Cake costings are based on the amount of time that it will take to make your cake, the design, number of serves required and degree of difficulty.
What about delivery?
Cake prices do not include delivery. Delivery cost depend on location, prices range from $30 (Liverpool area) – $250 Sydney (up 150km radius). As a rough guide, price would be estimated at $2 per km travelled.
What is the difference between coffee and dessert cake portions?
A coffee portion is usually – 1” wide x 1” deep x 4” high. A dessert portion is usually 1” wide x 2” deep x 4” high, double the size of a coffee portion. If your wedding includes a three-course meal, coffee portions are usually ample. If serving the cake as a course on its own, dessert portions are advised.
What are some things I need to be aware of when consuming / serving your products?
Please be aware that all our products contain eggs, milk and may contain traces of nuts. Our kitchen in an alcohol free kitchen. Please be aware that products which contain red, navy, purple and black fondant/ buttercream may temporarily stain your teeth/mouth for a few hours or until teeth are brushed. This is harmless, it is just the nature of the edible food colourants (these colours are usually stronger or sometimes more of this colour is added to a product to achieve the desired shade. Please note that ALL cakes, fillings, sprinkles, fondant, buttercream, edible images and gum paste used are halal. All products are edible unless otherwise specified.
Un-edible products may include:
- foam balls (balloons, balls)
- figurines (plastic toys)
- acrylic toppers
- handmade figurines are edible but will have a skewer (inside the figurine to structre the profuct). This needs to be removed before consumption.
- fresh flowers
- objects that are the “air” – these products will usually have florist wire under the product to achieve the desired look.
